Lisa D. Bailey Claim

Dr. Lisa Bailey grew up in a small town in New Jersey. She attended the University of Richmond, in Virginia, for college and earned her degree in Psychology. Dr. Bailey always knew she wanted to make a difference in the lives of children. She decided to pursue a career in psychology and headed to south Florida to attend the University of Miami for graduate school. She earned her degree in clinical psychology and became a dedicated Miami Hurricanes fan. Her graduate clinical training focused on children, adolescents and their families. Much of her training was with youth and families managing physical illness and with individuals living with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Her research focused on adolescent friendships and the effects of bullying. After completing her graduate school training, Dr. Bailey moved to Boston, Massachusetts to complete her clinical internship at Children’s Hospital of Boston, part of Harvard University Medical School. While on internship she continued to receive training in treating youth and families coping with acute and chronic medical and mental health problems. Looking for some warmer weather after one Boston winter (including a blizzard), Dr. Bailey happily accepted a postdoctoral fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC) in Washington, D.C. After earning her psychology license, Dr. Bailey remained on staff at CNMC for 4 1/2 years. Dr. Bailey then spent 1 year serving our military families at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. After living in the Washington, D.C. area for 7 years, Dr. Bailey was ready to move back to Florida. She accepted a position at University of Florida Health – Jacksonville, where she worked until June 2018. Dr. Bailey is a big fan of college and professional football and track and field. For fun, Dr. Bailey loves trying out new jewelry making techniques, cooking, and curling up with a good book. She enjoys spending time with family and friends and is thrilled to be able to do the work she loves with her best friend, Dr. Dew-Reeves.
